Who We Are

Poll Merino Breeders in the Wheatbelt, Western Australia Since the 1950s

Hill Padua Polls started out in the 1950s on the Cardo Stud at Watheroo, and we’ve been breeding and refining the same line of plain-bodied, dual-purpose Poll Merinos ever since. Since 1998, we’ve classed the flock on the long, soft wool and meat conformation the stud is known for, and every ram we sell is genomically tested with full ASBVs.

Fertility is the biggest profit driver on a commercial flock, and it’s the trait we breed hardest for. We artificially inseminate up to 460 ewes a year using Hill Padua’s own sires alongside leading genetics from around Australia, running 3,000 mated ewes across our Three Springs property. Each September, we auction 120 rams selected from over 1,000 male lambs, all with long, soft wool, sound bodies and no wrinkles.

Why Producers in Western Australia Choose Us

What Makes Hill Padua Poll Merino Genetics Different

Most stud websites bury buyers in ASBVs and micron data, leaving you to work out what any of it actually means for your flock. We take a different approach and give you a straight answer about how a ram will perform in your paddock. Our genetics have been proven in the same WA conditions you farm in, not imported bloodlines that have never been tested locally.

Every question goes straight to the person who bred the ram, so you get a real answer instead of a runaround. You shouldn’t have to choose between wool, meat and fertility when you’re buying a ram, and you won’t have to here. Every sire in our program is bred to deliver on all three, backed by genomic testing so you can see the numbers behind the promise.

Poll Merino Sires Western Australia

Poll Merino Rams and Sires with Full ASBVs

Most studs hand you a page of ASBV numbers and leave you to work it out. Every Poll Merino ram we sell comes with genomic testing and full ASBVs, and we’ll walk you through what they actually mean for your flock.
